Turtle Neck Bandwagon

Crop top - Internacionale, Skirt, rings, boots, faux fur - H&M, Belt - Primark, Leather Jacket - Motel

Today I bought this pretty little crop after I jumped onto the turtle neck crop top band wagon.  I've wanted one for ages, but never got around to buying one!  Today I did after my search for simple tees and in my disappointment  I bought this.  Thus, satisfying myself again.  I'm slightly annoyed now though, as its so so see through!  Should have just spent an extra few £££ and gone to Toppers!  Oh well.

Pretty simple outfit really.  I wanted to highlight my lovely new boots which I also got today for tha bargain price of £25.  I couldn't resist!  Especially after wanting a pair like them forever!  I was coveting chelsea boots in a similar style, but after having no luck I decided to just buy these babies instead.  I'm a happy chicka!  Definitely on the way to satisfying my need for new things, but let's wait until I get paid before I go all out.  Woo!

Once again, I apologise for the poor pictures.  As soon as it starts to warm up, I'll get them taken somewhere much nicer than my bedroom.  It's beginning to wind me up how crap they look.  Think I need to invest in a tripos to thoroughly crush this issue.  Anyway.

I'll have a mini haul up tomorrow; literally mini, mini.  So yeah.

Good night, I'm off to read Beautiful Creatures in the desperate hope that the book is better than the film.  Or good day...depending when you're reading this.

DIY Skirt & A Happy New Year!

Jacket/Motel Rocks//T shirt/Topshop//skirt/Made by me//tights/Ebay//shoes/River Island//Bag/Primark//Necklace/H&M//Bracelet/Topshop//Lipstick/Inhibition by Topshop//

'What have you done today, Megan?' you might ask.  Well, I made a skirt.  The one in the outfit and it cost me a total of £3 to produce.  Much cheaper then going to Topshop or the like for something similar...I'm so happy with it!
I've just filmed my Christmas haul and within that you will see that I got a sewing machine for Crimbo.  I've wanted one for a good few years to make my own clothes and try and save money (as I'm dreadful at saving :-( )  So yeah, since Christmas (bearing in mind I was away for 3 days - machine-less!) I've made this skirt, another one, in a different fabric, a pair of shorts, 2 bags and a few random things.  Pretty good going I say!
I went to the fabric shop a few days ago and got the houndstooth print fabric along with some crushed velvet but I'm still wondering what to do with the velvet.  I could make another skirt (from Toppers the equivalent would be £30 odd) or a really nice pair of shorts... I'd love to learn how to make a blazer so I could make a velvet shorts suit.  That would be so cool!  But I imagine blazers are  very difficult...Maybe I'll ask my sewing teacher to help me.  Or if you guys know, comment, it would be so helpful!
Anyway, I'm loving my new tshirt too!  I wore it with some amazing leather trousers I got in the Topshop sale and my mum said I looked like I was from Wham....Hmm.  My bag is new as well and despite it being really quite boxy and feeling plastic-y, it's gorgeous.  What else do you expect from Primark, though?  It was such a bargain at £12 I couldn't resist.
Oh, and I decided not to crop all of my room out of the photos as I really don't like just having a rectangle for an outfit photo, I'd rather have my messy room in the picture!  I really should start taking pictures elsewhere....Oh well!
I hope you guys have all had a brilliant Christmas and as it's the 31st of December, a fantastic New Year!  I'm really looking forward to spending it with all of my friends, yay!  What are you guys doing and what are you wearing?  I'll definitely get some pictures of my evening and my outfit up in the next few days.  Maybe, I'll post my resolutions and look back at them this time in 2013.

Love you all loads!

Studs, Spikes, Faux Fur and Embellishment Blues

Now, I'm not sure about you beauties but I'm having a bit of a fixation with statement jewellery as of late.  By statement jewellery I mean mainly silver and gold jewellery embellished with studs, spikes, chains and gorgeously gothic, possibly dangerous pieces.  Not only jewellery, am I tormented by but also all forms of accessories; be it a faux fur stole (which I heavily praised in a recent OOTD), a sequin trim on a dress or a scattering of spikes on a shoe.
Obviously my inspiration began on the runways back in February this year with various offerings of embellishment and gothic glory.  But since then, all the street style and look books have infused a huge desire on my part of needing more of these items in my life.

(I don't own any pictures; various from Pinterest, Jameela Jamil for Very, Primark, Tumblr and Google)

It's a perfect transition from the la-de-da-ness of S/S's girly, princess, cutesy fairy land.  Not to say that I didn't enjoy dressing head to toe in pastels and dressing like a dainty little darling.  Or wanting to but have the lack of suitable clothing to work with.  ANYWAY.
Statement jewellery and luxurious accessories just twist every outfit into something else, something one thousand times better.  Something enviable and utterly desirable to every other stylish woman out there.  They want your style, maybe they even want to be you.

I think what I'm trying to say is that jewellery, in any form, can completely change a persons day-to-day outfit to something that isn't at all day-to-day and more 'I'm a stylish, sophisticated yet urban and chic'.  Totally cool and green-eye provoking.

On a less happy note, I have two weeks worth of exams starting tomorrow so posting will be even more irregular for a while, but when that is over I'm really planning on stepping up my game.  You will have much better, well written post fuelled with a lot more effort on my part.  Lots more OOTD taken in better backgrounds with better quality where I can and an upcoming look book (will also be up on my YouTube channel) along with my favourite S/S13 runway shows following my Jonathan Saunders post as well as many other exciting things including my new position writing for a friend's magazine...keep reading and all will be revealed soon!

E-tail Webstores Giveaway Prizes

I have something very exciting to post about today;  I won a give away with E-tailwebstores!  The prize was that I got to choose 5 items from Motel and I'm overjoyed with my pieces!  I tried to choose pieces I knew would get a lot of wear out but I wanted a few not so safe pieces that I could try to get out of my comfort zone with.  When the pieces arrived (very quickly, might I add) I was super thrilled to find even the piece I thought I wouldn't love as much as I do (my beautiful handmade playsuit) I'm irreversibly in love with!
Oh and I'd just like to say for this post I've had to use my old camera because my new one has died, so I'm very sorry!

The first piece is this gorgeous sheer black shirt.  It has a asymmetrical dip hem but I didn't manage to get a picture of it (you'll be able to see it in the video at the end),  its really comfortable and just a nice piece that I know I will end up wearing a little too much because I'm just a little bit overly addicted to shirts and collars.  I love the studs on the collar, they're a subtle kind of stud but they still create a lot of drama.  LOVE.
The second piece would be these stunning disco pants!  I got them in the shade 'Pewter Crush' because I thought the black seemed a little too harsh and I knew I'd probably like to experiment with these pieces all the more than basic old black.  I love the way all Motel's disco pants are this 'crush' material; it gives them this amazing texture that I haven't seen on any others before.

Like I said I wasn't sure how I would feel about this playsuit - my mum convinced me into getting it because it's so darn pretty.  It's hand printed and it's utterly beautiful.  I chose it because it looked like 2 seperate pieces and I loved the idea of that as well as how floaty and comfy it looked whilst still being on trend.  I must admit, I'm not usually a playsuit kind of girl but I think I've been turned...

This one is pretty simple - a basic black biker jacket.  I've had a blue one for years but I've never had a good quality, black, fitted leather jacket before so I saw my chance and I took it!  I knew without thinking it's going to get an awful lot of wear and it will probably (hopefully) last me a good few years. Hurrah!

Finally I recieved this breathtaking dress.  When I saw it on the website I umed and ahed because I was pretty sure it would just be one of the pieces we just drooled over whilst it sat in the wardrobe and never got worn.  Yes - it might be.  But as soon as I have a night out to go on, we all know what I'll be wearing!  It's a velvet material that then has the beautiful sequins sewn onto, all over.  Depending on where you are the light bounces off them at lots of different points to make one of the most stunning dress ever!

I'm so happy with all of the pieces so thank you so so much to E-tailwebstores.
If any of you would be interested in entering any giveaways and winning free stuff go to E-tailwebstores'  Facebook page or visit their blog to see information on giveaways, bloggers, brands and enter as many giveaways and competitions as you like!

Meg xx

Stud lady

Shirt, shoes, hairband, bracelet - Topshop, shorts - New Look, leather jacket - Miss Selfridge

Sorry for looking so scruffy in these photos, I was rushing on my way out!  Anyway I was struggling what to wear that day as it was meant to be very hot BUT there was sea mist all day and it went super cold so I was so happy when I wore tights and bought my jacket along! I likes the simplicity of the outfit and the comfortable practicality as I was walking around outdoors all day; remaining comfortable and warm!

Sorry for the short post, it will be better stuff up soon and my Brighton post

Brighton Rocks - yes rocks!

Everything from Topshop (Opps....!) except: L rings: L - Miss Selfridge R - H&M & earrings - Silver Scene

If you follow me on Twitter then you may know that I am currently in Brighton until Sunday with my family.  We normally go to Brighton a few times a year as my grandad has a flat here that he lets us stay in whenever it's free (he usually rents it out) so my parents jumped at the chance when they found out it was free a few days ago so here we are!  It's not too much trouble for us to get up and go to Brighton as it's only an hour away from us and we can pack very quickly so, yeah here we are.

I didn't really plan any of the outfits that I would wear when we got here, I just threw all of my clothes I've been wearing recently into my travel bag so when I put this together this morning it was hard as it was that annoying weather; you know it's warm enough for shorts but it's cloudy and miserable looking so you'd look silly in shorts ect.  So I went for these pyjama trousers, very thin and comfy for a long day of walking around and seeing sights (even though I have seen them all before...100's of times...) and decided it needed to be dressed up with my peplum top.  I can't preach to you enough how much I love this Topshop peplum top, despite a lot of people hating them due to not fitting their shapes or just they have a distaste to them!  But I love them and I think they are incredibly flattering on my shape (in my opinion) and an awful lot of other people too.

I got my fringe cut the other day, back into a bare-able length for me.  Thank God, I could not stand it before, I had to keep curling it under to look like how it does now and in real life it looked so silly, so it's a relief!  I love short fringes I think they look pretty and cute but still give you an 'edge' without looking overwhelmed by a fringe; like I tend to when my fringe is longer.  My fringe seems to take over my entire face!

Unfortunately after we ate, I forgot to take any more photographs so I apologise.  But lucky for you guys, I'll be going out again tomorrow and the next day and the next until sunday so I'll try my best to take some pictures of the shops and pretty places that we go to.

We walked along the sea front up to Brighton Pier, to the coolest restaurant ever! JB's American Diner and it is soo cool!  Amazing American diner food; think all kinds of burgers, hot dogs, wraps, sandwiches... and top notch super cool milshakes and ice cream!  I couldn't get any better photos as the place was packed with families and screaming children so I didn't want any one ruining my photos.  But if any of you are ever near Brighton make sure to go there, it's soo cool!  Photos of 50's style bit all over the place; Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn all over the place.  Completely inspired by America, it's just so cool!
Then we went off to all the pretty little shops, they are just SO cute!  Got a pretty little pair of cross earrings in a little silver shop, coolest pair of black suede studded ankle boots & some cool new dark lipstick from Topshop!

Lipstick in Beguiled - £8, Boots - £40 both Topshop

Pretty me at the end....!
I'll do a review on the lipstick/post something on it when I get home and I'll do one for the boots aswell.

Ah, just ordered a spiked bracelet from ebay too, thank you Paige if you're reading this!  Can't go wrong for £1.21 including delivery - despite the shipping from China and the 12-24 day wait...!

Anyway, I hope you all have a fantastic day and enjoy this post!
